At What Point Does A Bail Amount Become Excessive?

Seven suspects were arrested in connection with a human trafficking investigation involving minors that began in May with Hartford’s Special Investigation Division and the Regionalized Human Trafficking Recovery Task Force. The investigation is currently ongoing in Hartford, CT, and police claim additional arrests are anticipated as the case progresses. According to Lieutenant Aaron Boisvert of the Hartford police, the three minors involved in the case have since been reunited with their families.

As of Friday, the suspects in custody were: James Williams, Ahmad Compton, Raheem Jones, Tahjay Wilson, Tyrod Jackson, Donovan Dun, and Bernard Mickens. They are all Hartford residents, except for Jones. Police said Donovan Dun was apprehended in Port Charlotte, Florida. He is being held as a fugitive from justice and is awaiting extradition to Connecticut.

Amongst the seven, there were several charges of trafficking in persons, sexual assault in the first and second degree, and illegal sexual contact with a minor, along with risk of injury to a child and kidnapping in the first degree.

The bail set for the suspects ranges from $250,000 to $1.75 million. Is this considered excessive bail?

Excessive bail is defined as a bond that exceeds the amount necessary to ensure the accused appears in court. Read the full story

Middletown Bail Bonds Agency

30 years in bail bonds

Bail bonds in Middletown, CT, can be very affordable and easy to process when you find the right bail bonds agency. A few key points to follow include a valid Connecticut license and the number of years an agency has been in the industry. Experience only comes with time, says Middletown bail bondsman, Tawn.

3-D Bail Bonds started its first local bail business in 1997, literally out of a truck. Twenty-eight years later, you can still find Dan and Drew at their office or posting bail bonds throughout Middlesex County, Connecticut. As the agency grew fast, it expanded services to Middletown, New Britain, and New Haven.

Clients are the number 1 priority

For 3-D Bail Bonds in Middletown, the number 1 priority is their clients. Regardless of the situation, customers come first. Sometimes they may help by offering a free ride, or the agents may be waiting for them for an extra hour (because life happens), or often times they wait at the jail, so clients don’t have to.

Finding ways to help customers during difficult times is what they do best. They have the ability to work large and small bail amounts a little differently because they have been in the bail business for a long time. By providing an honest and compassionate service, they can guarantee the best options to bail someone out of a local Middletown jail, keeping in mind your personal needs.

Affordable Middletown bail bonds services

One important way to help is by securing the best Middletown bail bonds service through affordability. Connecticut bail bond fees are regulated by the Department of Insurance, which states that fees are set and cannot be changed. It’s the law in the state, and it applies to every city in the state. In efforts to make bail more affordable, 3-D Bail Bonds offers 3 percent bail bonds. Ask about our bail bond financing options for the  Middletown area.

Conclusion

Bail fees can turn expensive quickly, and some families may simply not have the funds instantly to pay the fees in full. A low 3 percent down payment facilitates jail release and allows defendants to fight the case on equal grounds, preserving their constitutional right to bail.
